1. With three years having passed since the launch of the Park Geun-hye government, the Korea National Diplomatic Academy will host a seminar to assess accomplishments of the government in foreign policy, and to discuss future tasks and strategies.

2. In particular, amid a flurry of activity in the international community to deter North Korea from developing nuclear weapons in the wake of the North’s fourth nuclear test, the UN Security Council is working to draft the strongest and most effective sanctions resolution ever in the history of the UN. The upcoming seminar is expected to be a meaningful event, where the significance of the resolution, the diplomatic achievements of the ROK government over the past three years, and the way forward for the ROK’s diplomacy will be discussed.

3. At the forthcoming seminar, to be held at the KNDA on February 29, experts from the diplomatic and academic arenas will engage in in-depth discussions under the theme “assessing the Park Geun-hye government’s diplomacy over the past three years: the way forward for the ROK’s diplomacy after UN sanctions against North Korea.”

4. In the seminar, participants will discuss key diplomatic issues, including accomplishments in foreign policy over the past three years and future tasks; the UN sanctions resolution on North Korea and the ROK’s diplomatic tasks; diplomacy towards four major powers; and multilateral diplomacy. The seminar is expected to serve as an opportunity to increase Korean people’s understanding and support regarding the ROK government’s foreign policies.
