1. Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman called Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se on July 14 and explained the Israeli position on the recent developments in the Gaza Strip.
2. In response, Minister Yun, bringing renewed attention to the relevant commentary issued by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea on July 10 and the press statement issued by the UN Security Council on July 12, expressed concern over the aggravating tensions in the Gaza Strip, and stressed that all parties concerned should exercise maximum restraint so as to prevent any further sacrifices of innocent civilians.
3. Furthermore, Minister Yun asked Minister Liberman to pay keen attention to and help ensure the safety of some 800 Korean nationals residing in Israel, to which Minister Liberman responded by expressing willingness to cooperate.
